One in 71 men in the U.S. have been raped at some time in their lives. That’s right, men.
April is Sexual Abuse Awareness Month, so, having been a victim of rape, I highlighted S.A.A.M. in a column in The Valley News on Saturday. But I wasn’t expecting the response I got from men about the column. To those of you who responded, know that you are not alone. No, having been raped was NOT your fault.
Traumatic memories can still linger, but Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” (Luke 4:18)
His love is gentle enough to salve and heal all our pains yet powerful enough to conquer death, hell, and the grave. We just celebrated the most amazing holiday ever put on the books. Easter is not merely about Jesus’ death on the cross…it’s about His resurrection. It’s no mistake the most incredible event in the history of the world took place in the springtime. His raising from the dead is a sign of new life…and that new life is available to anyone who asks.
All of us need new life, because all of us have sinned, and have fallen short of the glory of God. But the beauty of the gospel is this: God knew we were in a mess and that all human attempts to upright our world were futile.
Finding that freedom and healing is this simple – it starts here: if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9, 10)
A personal relationship with Jesus Christ is filled with everything good. That’s why the “gospel” means “good news.” That goodness includes finding a new start. He makes all things new. If you’re having a hard time getting started, you can call Kenneth Hagin Ministries prayer line at (918) 258-1588. When you put your cares in His hands to get rid of them forever, let go. Do not to reach out and try to take those cares back from Him. (Don’t be an “Indian giver.”) You can truly truly be whole and free of your past.
He’ll make your past – be THE PAST – at last.
