The fact that God loves us enough to allow us to make our own decisions boggles my mind.
Even if the choices we make lead to death, He still gives us that choice. However, He then calls heaven and earth as witnesses against us and commands us to choose life so that we and our descendants may live. He sees the future and knows what’s best for all of us.
Some have said pro-life people need to be more sympathetic toward women who have signed on to #shoutyourabortion proudly. When I learn of women who’ve chosen abortion, like I did, I’m deeply saddened, because I do indeed know what it’s like to be faced with the choice of whether to let the baby live — or to take part in murder-for-hire. Whether you choose life or death, the decision will be life-changing.
Dictionary.com defines the both empathy and sympathy as feelings concerning other people: “Sympathy is literally ‘feeling with’ – compassion for or commiseration with another person. Empathy, by contrast, is literally ‘feeling into’ – the ability to project one’s personality into another person and more fully understand that person. Sympathy derives from Latin and Greek words meaning ‘having a fellow feeling’. The term empathy … means the ability to imagine or project oneself into another person’s position and experience all the sensations involved in that position. You feel empathy when you’ve “been there”, and sympathy when you haven’t.”
I empathize with every woman who has had that difficult decision to make.
Whoever you are, on whatever side of this issue you’re on, I’m praying for you, because I’m well aware that you’re unable to forget about your abortion – whether you’re woman or a man. If you’re hurting, I’d like to help you find air to breathe again.
Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
