When I wrote “No One Could Know,” I knew it would minister to women who’ve been through a rape or have experienced abortion. But several reactions to the book have taken me by surprise.
First, I’ve been surprised by the number of men who have confided in me that they have been raped. There’s a shocking number of people of all genders who not only have been victims of tragedy, but have never received healing from the past.
The second surprise was learning that rape happens so much in the military. Heartbreaking.
Third, I’ve been surprised by how many have read my book with no such residue sticking to their lives, yet are so moved by my story. I planned for the book to be used as a resource even for those who cannot personally relate to it, but that its impact has so moved readers like Jeni Neufeld of Canada is a pleasant side effect. Here is her Amazon review from Jan. 3, 2015:
5.0 out of 5 stars Life Changing!

This review is from: No One Could Know (Paperback)
I couldn’t put this book down! Stayed up till I was finished. I grew up in a very sheltered atmosphere and had no idea that a 16 yr old girl could go get an abortion without her parents knowing. My eyes have been opened to the reality of what teenagers are dealing with today. It gave me a compassion for those that have had an abortion and the pain so many are now suffering. Thanks for stirring me up! I plan to give this book to all my nieces and get the word out that there are other choices and that there’s also healing and freedom for those who have had an abortion. Kristan thank you so much for sharing your story, many lives will be saved and changed!!

Thank you, Jeni, and those of you who have read my book and have shared it with others. Besides my hope of bringing healing to the hurting, my deepest desire is that my story is, above all, a source for prevention.
